Hi, I’m Cathy. My journey in the world of tattooing began over two decades ago, back in 1997. My career started at Vamous Studios in Johannesburg, South Africa, where I quickly developed a deep passion for the art of tattooing. The experience I gained there shaped me into the artist I am today, allowing me to explore a wide range of styles and techniques.
In 2017, I made the life-changing decision to move to Edinburgh, a city brimming with creativity and history. Together with Van, we opened HeartShip Tattoos, a studio that embodies our shared vision of creating a welcoming space where art and personal expression intertwine. Our studio is not just a place of work; it’s a reflection of our dedication to the craft and our commitment to our clients.
As an all-rounder tattoo artist, I enjoy working across various tattoo styles, adapting to the unique preferences and ideas of each client. However, I have a particular affinity for black and grey tattoos. There’s something profoundly timeless and elegant about this style, and I love the way it allows me to play with shadows, contrasts, and depth to create truly striking designs.
Whether it’s a classic piece, a modern design, or something entirely custom, I approach each tattoo with the same level of care and precision, ensuring that it resonates with the individual’s personal story.
